§ 154-88. Shielding of illumination.

  • Illuminated signs, in addition to conforming to all other requirements of this article, shall be shielded in such a manner so that no direct source of light is cast into residential properties or into a public street or right-of-way. Illuminated signs shall not interfere with pedestrian or motorist vision. The illumination shall not be reflective or phosphorescent and shall perform in a steady, nonfluctuating or nonundulating manner and shall be placed in a manner that will not create a nuisance to other premises or interfere with vehicular movements. Signs shall be internally illuminated wherever possible. If not achievable, down lighting is acceptable.
